The Ghostlight Project

January 19, 2017

Circle Players will participate in ‘The Ghostlight Project’, a nationwide project linking theaters across the country in a shared commitment to greater inclusion, participation, and compassion in our theaters and our communities.
At 5:30 pm on Thursday, January 19th, along with all other participating Ghostlight organizations, Circle will hold a ceremony at their theater, which is located at 416 Victoria Avenue, Piscataway.
The event is open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a flashlight, glow stick, or similar light source.
According to the Ghostlight Project’s action statement, the effort’s intent is to join theaters together “on the eve of the Presidential Inauguration… to join in a collective, simultaneous action, together creating “light” for challenging times ahead.
“Inspired by the tradition of leaving a “ghost light” on in a darkened theater,” the action statement reads, “artists and communities will make or renew a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone–regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.”
