Audition Technique Class with Jessica Damrow Sherman

August 25, 2018

Saturday, August 25, from 10 am-1 pm, come learn how to work with classical text with one of Circle’s favorite directors, Jessica Damrow Sherman (Hamlet, As You Like it, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Richard III, Prelude to a Kiss)

Most auditions and callbacks ask you to either read from the script or present a prepared monologue. But where to begin? In this class, Jessica Damrow Sherman will help you sharpen your audition technique by focusing on both scenarios. We will work on honing your cold reading skills – identifying a clear character objective for the scene, making bold character choices, listening to your scene partner and taking direction in an audition situation. Jessica will also discuss how to select appropriate, vibrant material and prepare an audition monologue. Students will be asked to bring in an audition monologue and Jessica will provide each student with personalized feedback and direction.
